SHOT Show 2016 – CMMG Mk47 K
CMMG is no stranger to making modified AR15 platform rifles capable of firing 7.62×39 ammo fed from an AK47 magazine. Ever since they released the MUTANT late in 2014, the company has continued to expand their lineup of quasi-AR15 hybrids to include several different variants.
CMMG Mk47 K
One such configuration is the Mk47 K which is available in either a pistol or short-barreled rifle configuration with a 10″ barrel and SV muzzle brake. It is fitted with a 9″ handguard featuring a full top Picatinny rail and Keymod mounting slots on the sides and bottom.
CMMG brought out a full auto version of the Mk47 K at the 2016 SHOT Show® Industry Day at the Range™ which allowed us to give it a try.
Fed a steady diet of steel cased ammo, the Mk47 K operated smoothly the entire time we were at the CMMG tent. When shooting semi-auto the rifle was controllable and had just enough weight to make the recoil very manageable. Of course we didn’t spend much time shooting semi-auto, most of us flipped the happy switch to full-auto after just a couple of rounds.
As shown in the video, the Mk47 K throws some fire and would undoubtedly make for an exciting show in low light conditions. Of course, that’s to be expected when firing such a powerful cartridge with a shorter barrel.
